UPMKB SELECTED BY DESTINATION OF PROGRAM (TRIA 2.0) YEAR 2018

Bintulu: Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) was selected as one of the destinations of the TRIA 2.0 Program for the North Zone of Sarawak in 2018. The program, organized by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Research (MESTR) in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, UPMKB which brings together PT3 students in Sarawak.

This program is to expose and increase student interest in modern agriculture. In addition, this program is also seen as the best platform for all participants to strengthen the choice of secondary school students to choose their destination after finish their school.

Among the programs being implemented was to promote UPM Sarawak Bintulu Campus as a destination for agricultural studies by exposing participants to modern agriculture through the practice of processing chicken and quail farming, processing of quail meat, introduction to fertigation systems, handling of freshwater fish products and goats by all participants run bIn addition, there are several motivational slots implemented to enhance students interest in the agricultural education sector. The program is fully implemented by facilitators from Bachelor of Bioindustry Science, UPMKB under the guidance of Assoc. Prof Dr. Shahrul Razid Bin Sarbini, En. Fakhzan Bin Buang and Mrs. Carolyne Eryna A. C. Nadin.

The two-day program at UPMKB from 21 to 22 October 2018 is attended by 34 students comprising 8 schools in the northern zone, SMK Assyakirin, SMK Belaga, SMK Kidurong, SMK Bintulu, SMK Sebauh, SMK Tatau, SMK Kemena and SMK Bandar Bintulu.
