UPMKB OFFERS FULL-TIME SOCIAL SCIENCES COURSES

BINTULU, 31 March 2019 – Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) held an Academic Open Day 2019 to introduce and to promote the courses currently offered by the campus.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Ibrani Shahrimin Adam Assim, UPM now conducts full-time social sciences courses to eligible students.

“Prior to this, Social Sciences courses were conducted through Distance Learning (DL) programme under UPM Holdings, and we hope for more students to enrol in the new courses to fulfil job market needs especially in the field of management.”

“Currently, there are 1,537 active students pursuing their tertiary education across three levels namely Pre-diploma, Diploma and Bachelor, and the courses offered here are mainly associated with the field of agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, estate management, agribusiness, and agricultural engineering,” said Dr. Mohamad Ibrani at the Academic Open Day programme.

According to Ms Sutini, the coordinating officer for UPM Holding’s DL programme, “social sciences courses are currently offered across Diploma, Bachelor, and Master level.”

Lecturer En Mohd Saufi explained, “there are 15 students currently enrolled in our DL programme in UPMKB.”

“Our detailed explanation may help prospective students to examine their options even for those who have registered with UPU,” said Mr Mohd Saufi.

UPMKB will also introduce new courses for the upcoming Session 2019/2020 September intake in keeping with its newest Bachelor programme offering i.e. Bachelor of Science (Human Development and Management).

The Academic Open Day 2019 programme was officiated by the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Science and Technology—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini and witnessed by over 500 attendees who later attended a short briefing, visited academic booths, and acquired academic advisements.
