INDUSTRY INDUCTION COURSE FOR INTERNS

UPMKB has been selected by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) as the first university involved in the Agro-Food Productivity Nexus initiative aimed to encourage greater cooperation between industries, policy-makers and universities in agriculture.

A bespoke programme in the form an industry induction course was held on October the 26th 2019 at Promenade Hotel Bintulu, Sarawak with invited speakers from various agriculture-related agencies and companies sharing information and expertise. Among those present were Prof. Dr. Koo Voon Chet (MMU), Dr. Masniza Sairi (MARDI), Pn. Juliana Ritonga Saipul Jannah (Department of Agriculture), Ms. Marie Goh (Croplife Malaysia) and En. Kit Chan (K-Farm Pvt. Ltd.).

The programme was attended by 80 students from various Diploma and Bachelor programmes and Industrial Training coordinators from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences. The programme was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, UPMKB.

The programme was aimed to expose prospective graduates to the aspirations, challenges and opportunities to be discovered in the field of agriculture. It also sought to address the needs of the agriculture industry, likewise, the abundant career pathways graduates can pursue upon graduation.
