Saturday, 16 Sept 2017, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) in collaboration with DAIKEN SARAWAK SDN BHD and Sarawak Forestry Corporation Sdn Bhd (SFC) conducted a beach cleaning campaign at Similajau National Park, Bintulu, Sarawak. This beach cleaning campaign was fully sponsored by Daiken Sarawak Sdn Bhd as one of their contribution to the community in Bintulu Division, Sarawak.

Through this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, it is a reflection of Daiken’s commitment towards promoting awareness and positive impact to the environment. Besides, programme had been aligned with aerobic session as a part to emphasized health awareness that had been practice in the industry. The campaign involved 131 staff from these three organizations. Most importantly, it is hoped that this effort stimulate and create awareness on the importance of a clean beach ecosystem among its company’s staff and younger generations, the university students.

SFC being the custodian of Similajau National Park has helped to the success of the event. Every visitors coming to this park is expecting scenic view of the ocean view and the beach. However, litters deposited on this beach is primary carried by the sea current and tides. Therefore, this campaign is a small steps towards a cleaner beach environment. This can be a significant and meaningful platform to serve the nature back to normal and unpolluted condition. This augur well with the campaign “Creating Environmental Friendly”.
The campaign that based on University Social Responsibility and Corporate Social Responsibility Programme can contribute great awareness among the participants regarding clean environment. It also helps in creating a responsible person and respect the environment which should be absorbed in today's community. It is hoped that this program will be continuously carried out in the future as well as further strengthening the relationship between UPMKB students with other agencies and communities in Bintulu, Sarawak.
